As a highly experienced electrical design engineer, you will oversee and deliver high-quality engineering designs across a portfolio of industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop electrical designs for installations, including power distribution, motor control, and lighting.
- Prepare detailed drawings, schematics, cable schedules, and documentation using electrical CAD software.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, client specifications, and statutory regulations.
- Maintain design quality through adherence to company procedures, peer reviews, and design checks.
- Conduct and review electrical studies, including load flow, fault level, arc flash, and voltage drop analysis.
- Review and approve designs, supplier documentation, and construction packages.
- Provide input into project scoping, estimating, and risk management.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure integrated design outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 8-10 years' experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in mining, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industry sectors.
- Strong knowledge of LV and HV electrical systems, equipment specifications, and design practices.
- Proficient in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, or PowerTools.
- Sound understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, AS/NZS 61439, and other relevant standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage design deliverables across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Current Australian working rights – Citizen / PR or Eligible Visa.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ / RPEV).
- Experience in site-based engineering, commissioning, or construction support.
- Exposure to hazardous area classification and design.
- Familiarity with digital engineering tools and design automation.
