Principal Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer - Dams/Civil to join our team at Hydro Tasmania. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of water resources projects, including dams, civil infrastructure, and hydroelectric power generation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of water resources projects, including dams, civil infrastructure, and hydroelectric power generation.
- Develop and implement hydrological and hydraulic models to predict water flow and behavior.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables meet client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in water resources engineering.
- 12-15 years' experience in civil or environmental engineering, with a focus on hydrology and water resources.
- Tertiary qualifications in civil or environmental engineering, science, or hydrology.
- Strong experience with Australian hydrological and hydraulic practices, including current design guidelines and standards.
- Advanced statistical skills related to design flood hydrology, including flood frequency approaches and total probability methods.
- Experience with semi-distributed or lumped conceptual rainfall-runoff models, such as eWater Source, RORB, or HEC-HMS.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as R or Python, applied to hydrology projects.
