About the Position

The Wardliparingga Aboriginal Health Equity Theme at SAHMRI is seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to lead epidemiological and statistical data analysis and provide research project support.

This role will involve conducting high-quality research in aged and health care services for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including planning, execution, statistical analyses, and publication.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess a PhD in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, or a related discipline, as well as demonstrated experience contributing to research projects relating to the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

You will also have experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations or communities, proficiency working with SAS, R, or Stata, and knowledge of systems and processes to support the collation and management of high-quality data.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct high-quality research with a focus on health, health services, and aged care services for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  2. Contribute to the activities of the collaborative research between AHE and ROSA, focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals in aged care settings.
  3. Work independently as well as collaboratively with AHE, ROSA team, research partners, consumer representatives, staff, and stakeholders of the research project.
  4. Support and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander governance in the research.
  5. Liaise, coordinate, and support the ROSA team on new and existing ethics amendments required for the research in a timely manner.
