**Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Role Overview:**">The Ballina Shire Council is seeking an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and Partnerships Officer to improve communication and engagement with local Aboriginal communities.This role involves working collaboratively with the community to identify opportunities to strengthen cultural heritage outcomes and relationships between the council and the community.A key aspect of this role will be to work strategically to assist in strengthening the council's capacity to deliver a partnership agreement with the Aboriginal community.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Improving communication and engagement with local Aboriginal communities;
  • Working collaboratively with the community to identify opportunities to strengthen cultural heritage outcomes;
  • Assisting in strengthening the council's capacity to deliver a partnership agreement with the Aboriginal community;

**Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in indigenous studies, social sciences, community development or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities with knowledge and awareness of cultural heritage and issues/needs relating to the Aboriginal community within the Ballina Shire;
  • Evidence of being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identifying as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and being accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community;
