Job Details

A heavy-duty diesel fitter is required to join our workshop and field service teams in Port Hedland and Pilbara projects.

Main duties include:

  • Providing emergency and unscheduled repairs to plant and equipment,
  • Assisting in ordering replacement equipment, parts, and supplies,
  • Inspecting and signing for delivered goods and materials,
  • Requesting orders through the Senior Mechanic or WA Maintenance Superintendent,
  • Efficiently storing materials to minimize double handling and theft,
  • Following Austral HSE standards and procedures.
Requirements
  • Trade qualifications for plant maintenance or heavy machinery maintenance,
  • A high level of maintenance fitting skills, including installation and repairs,
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in hydraulic and control systems,
  • Very high attention to detail and quality with a safety-focused mindset,
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure all processes align with our mission statement and core values,
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical diagnosis and repair, including drawing interpretation and application,
  • A valid driver's license, preferably HR.
