Job Description:

The Department of Agriculture, Water and Resources seeks a seasoned geospatial leader to spearhead a small team responsible for managing and maintaining the department's geospatial data holdings. This key role will be instrumental in shaping the department's geospatial data strategy and ensuring its alignment with organizational goals.

This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will have experience working with spatial data and software, scripting and analysis tools, and a solid understanding of GIS principles.

In addition to technical expertise, this role demands exceptional leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and guide a multi-disciplinary team towards achieving common objectives. Strong interpersonal skills are also essential for building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic advice on geospatial data best practices and workflows
  • Lead the modernization of enterprise geodatabases
  • Spearhead evidence-based decision making initiatives across the organization
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, biology, geography, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
