Aboriginal Partnerships Community Development Role

Yarra City Council seeks a dedicated professional to support its work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The successful candidate will contribute to initiatives promoting cultural heritage, community wellbeing, and self-determination.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of the Yana Ngargna Plan and associated actions that promote cultural heritage, community wellbeing, and Aboriginal self-determination.
  • Collaborate with community members, service providers, and other levels of government to deliver initiatives that support positive outcomes across the municipality.
  • Develop and maintain respectful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities.
  • Contribute to Council's NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week activities and facilitate community participation.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong community values, cultural understanding, and experience in community engagement, partnerships, or project delivery.

  • Essential Requirements:
  • Strong community values and cultural understanding.
  • Experience working with or alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities.
  • Understanding of the importance of respectful relationships and ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
