Job Description

As a Learning and Development Officer, you will play a key role in building the capability of our operational and technical workforce. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and be part of our growth journey.

The successful candidate will have experience in learning and development, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to design and deliver training programs that meet the needs of our diverse workforce.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering training programs to meet the needs of our operational and technical workforce;
  • Designing and reviewing learning materials, including presentations, session plans, learner guides, assessments and procedures;
  • Providing learning design expertise to subject matter experts to support the development of new operational training content and materials;
  • Conducting training needs analyses to identify competency and compliance requirements;
  • Coordinating and scheduling external vendors for delivery of on and off site course delivery and assessment;
  • Delivering inductions for new employees and contractors visiting the site, including set up of online inductions prior to site arrival;

Requirements include a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40120) and proven experience in learning and development. Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills are also essential.

Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40120);
  • Proven experience in learning and development in a mining or industrial environment;
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with a range of audiences across many levels of the business;
  • Highly developed computer skills, including the MS Office suite (particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and an understanding of learning management systems;
  • Proven ability in the design, development and delivery of learning content and materials based on training needs analysis;
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering a range of operational courses, such as isolations, permit issuing, hot work awareness, dust awareness and fire extinguisher.
