About the Position

We are seeking a journalist for our news service on a fixed term basis.

  • Assist with planning and posting to social media platforms
  • Research, compile and produce high quality weather and news stories for weekday news bulletins

Duties include assisting in preparation of weather forecasts, data entry, and script writing as requested. You'll liaise with editors, camera operators, and journalists to ensure news bulletins and online content meet deadlines and are of high standards.

About You
  • University qualification majoring in journalism
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings winning bulletin
  • Knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the social media landscape
  • A keen interest in social media trends
  • Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management
  • Capacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships
  • Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility
  • Positive work ethic, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
