Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Horticulturist Team Leader to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing areas around Strathfield Council's LGA, conducting horticultural tasks, supervising the team, and achieving high levels of quality customer service.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance areas identified as horticultural responsibilities, including pruning, planting, mulching, spraying, mowing, and litter collection.
  • Coordinate routine tasks for the Horticultural Team, allocating tasks and resources to deliver services to council standard.
  • Undertake and successfully complete applicable council management plan strategies within "Sustainable Environment".
  • Communicate with the Open Space Coordinator on matters relating to work and maintenance programs.
  • Assist with various tasks, projects, and responsibilities of Parks Services to achieve department objectives.
  • Identify and assist with provision of plants required for general landscape requirements and specialist purposes.
  • Achieve and maintain consistent high levels of quality customer service.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Horticulture (minimum TAFE Certificate III in Horticulture Parks and Gardens) or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • A current Class C Driver's License.
  • General Safety (White Card) Induction.
  • Chemcert training (AQF 3).
  • Relevant qualifications in Landscaping or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a horticultural role and maintenance of associated plant equipment.
  • Demonstrated high level of organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, exercise initiative, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision and leadership of small teams.
