About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Animal Care Specialist to join our team. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for the care and maintenance of our avian collection, including daily feeding, cleaning, and monitoring of the animals.

You will also provide relief coverage for the Texas horned lizard collection and assist with procedures as needed. Additionally, you will attend Attwater's Recovery Team meetings and assist with producing reports and records.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing daily care and maintenance of the Avian collection

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in biology, zoology or related field, or 2 years' experience in a professional avian collection
  • Experience working with galliformes desirable
  • Interest in artificial incubation of galliformes and other birds
  • Understanding of the biology of galliformes and other birds
  • Expertise in hand raising birds
  • Familiarity with PC's and competent with Excel and Microsoft Word
