Senior Structural Forensic Investigator

Job Description:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing forensic investigations of structural failures, building envelope issues, and code compliance problems.
A strong background in technical writing, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are required.
- Assess, analyze, and document the cause and origin of structural collapses
- Conduct interviews with witnesses, service personnel, and local officials
- Develop and submit detailed designs for restoration and renovation projects
- Create full working drawings for building department approval
- Leverage expertise to complete complex or innovative projects that require new design approaches
- Manage projects from start to finish
- Deliver clean, accurate, and timely designs
Responsibilities:
Forensic investigations demand a high level of technical proficiency, effective communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of structural engineering principles, including materials science and mechanics of structures.
The selected individual will also be responsible for providing expert testimony in court, preparing reports, and maintaining detailed records of all investigations.
In addition, the successful applicant will have experience with construction methods, materials, and practices, as well as knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
Qualifications:Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required
Professional Engineering License, or the ability to be licensed in Ontario required
Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience
Experience within the insurance and legal industry is essential.
Proficient in standard Microsoft Office (MS Word, Outlook & Excel)
Expert knowledge of the Regional Building Code
Hands-on construction experience would be an asset
A positive, self-driven attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
A willingness and passion to: collaborate with the marketing and sales team through attendance at presentations and industry events
Customer-facing experience: Ability to discuss project budgets with clients and maintain continuous communication throughout the project
