This role is an exciting opportunity to work with First Nations families in Sydney and engage with communities across the area. The successful applicant will build strong relationships, provide community connections, and support families to establish meaningful goals.
About the Role
The Community Coordinator will be responsible for undertaking observations of children in their natural environment, assessing functioning and support needs, and providing support to establish goals and aspirations for their child and family. This role also involves working within the framework of Best Practice Guidelines in Early Intervention.
Key Responsibilities
- Build respectful relationships with First Nations families and ensure their voices and preferences are at the forefront.
- Undertake observations of a child in their natural environment to assess functioning and support needs.
- Support First Nations families to establish meaningful goals and aspirations for their child and family.
- Provide community connections and linkages to mainstream services to improve children's access to the right supports.
- Work within the framework of Best Practice Guidelines in Early Intervention.
Requirements
- Aboriginality confirmed by a common seal and a reference from an Aboriginal organisation or community group.
- Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood or Allied Health is desirable.
- Understanding of child protection principles and Keep Them Safe.
- Valid Driver's Licence (P1 minimum).
- WWCC & NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Full Australian working rights.
