Job Description

The primary role of the Information Security Officer is to lead the operational cybersecurity for Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), within the overall Defence cybersecurity framework.

The position entails preserving from compromise the confidentiality, integrity and availability of DSTG's information assets. It extends Defence ICT security capabilities with specialist cybersecurity capability tailored to unique, highly complex research environments.

  • Cybersecurity risk and assurance: Development of a robust Information Security Management System (ISMS) and leadership to achieve formal Assessment and Authorisation of the DSTG fleet of digital research systems.
  • Cybersecurity technical capability: Planning, development, integration and deployment of advanced cybersecurity assurance tools and methods to secure DSTG's digital research systems.
  • Cybersecurity operations: Management of DSTG cybersecurity incident response, development of advanced cyber skills and tools to enable sophisticated hunt missions.

The Information Security Officer will need to engage and leverage capability from across the DSTG and Defence cybersecurity ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 15 cybersecurity professionals covering key functional roles.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies and solutions.
  • Manage cybersecurity risk and assurance.
  • Plan, develop, integrate and deploy advanced cybersecurity assurance tools and methods.

  • Experience in leading cybersecurity teams and developing effective cybersecurity strategies.
  • A strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and technologies.
  • The ability to lead and manage a team of cybersecurity professionals.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
