Emergency Management Information Analyst

The Australian Government is seeking a skilled Emergency Management Information Analyst to join the National Situation Room (NSR) within Emergency Management Australia (EMA). The NSR provides 24/7 crisis management information and whole-of-government coordination facilities.

The successful applicant will support the work of the NSR by providing predictive analysis, impact and consequence assessment, and decision support on national crises and emergency events. They will assess the possible impacts and consequences of a hazard to a community by gathering, processing, analyzing, and distilling information from various sources.

The role involves maintaining a forward view of the natural hazard and security environment, scanning the horizon to identify potential incidents and assessing what is likely to happen as a result of forecast conditions. The Information Analyst will source, collate, process, and analyze data and information from multiple sources and feeds to deliver impact and consequence analysis and decision support to government stakeholders in the event of a crisis situation.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to collaborate with specialists within EMA, the Australian Climate Service, Bureau of Meteorology, and other stakeholders to develop briefing materials in accordance with agreed information and intelligence requirements.
