Portfolio Risk Manager

The Senior Underwriter plays a crucial role in the mortgage lending process, ensuring that loans are underwritten and cleared within industry standards.
Responsibilities- Assess risk for initial credit decisions based on company guidelines, internal guides, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate errors and missing information to processors via email and/or telephone.
- Update condition sheets in Encompass with applicable conditions.
- Review resubmissions as items are gathered and submitted by the processor.
- Issue final approval and upload all necessary documentation into Encompass with appropriate signatures.
- Collaborate with internal departments on stipulations for closed files.
- Maintain confidentiality at all levels.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- SAR and/or DE preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of mortgage banking software, loan transactions, and industry regulations.
- Experience underwriting USDA and bond programs is an asset.
- Excellent customer service, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
