About This Role

The Aboriginal Case Manager will be responsible for managing a case load with a majority of Aboriginal individuals. Their key responsibility will be to reduce the risk of reoffending through conducting risk assessments, preparing case plans and providing interventions. Additionally, they will address the underlying causes of offending and direct and monitor compliance with court order obligations.

This role has a unique purpose as it will develop and implement cultural support plans for Aboriginal clients and work with Aboriginal justice networks to identify appropriate support. This will strengthen case management outcomes for clients.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have:

  • The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal Community.
  • Effective engagement with local support services and the Koori Court in the case management of individuals.
  • An understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community, socially and culturally, and the issues impacting on it.
  • Understanding of effective case management practices including proactively managing risk of complex individuals.
  • Motivation and influence skills, with the ability to motivate and influence individuals who are being case managed.
Key Requirements
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal community.
  • Ability to engage effectively with local support services and the Koori Court in the case management of individuals.
