About the Role

The Dean of Social Work and Academic Leadership will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of sector-leading programs that meet the Australian Social Work and Accreditation Standards. The successful candidate will have extensive ties to local, national, and international communities and will contribute to Excelsia College's vision through their commitment to educating students to promote human rights and social justice.

Main Responsibilities
  • Teaching in areas such as Context for Social Work Practice, Diversity, Power, and Identity in Social Work Practice, and Research and Evaluation in Social Work Practice.
  • Ensuring excellence in the development of students' Social Work capabilities and preparation for life in the Social Work profession.
  • Providing academic and strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to the School of Social Work.
  • Ensuring the activities of the School are operated effectively and efficiently, providing a quality experience for students and staff.
  • B Building the profile and reputation of the College with stakeholders, the community, and potential students.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • A PhD completed in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or other relevant disciplines.
  • A minimum of 5 years' academic or professional or practice-based experience and expertise.
  • Membership of, or eligibility for membership of, the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • A demonstrated ability to teach Social Work practice skills and supervise honours and postgraduate research theses.
  • A proven track record of research, publication in high-quality academic journals, and conference presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students, staff, and administrators, including pastoral skills in mentoring staff and supporting students.
