Job Description

The Principal Audit Manager role involves leading a small team within the Financial Audit Branch, responsible for planning, conducting and reporting on independent audits. The incumbent will be accountable to an Executive Director/Assistant Auditor-General (Financial Audit) for effective management of audit professionals and planning, conducting and reporting on independent financial compliance audits of significant public sector agencies and reviews of internal controls.

The role requires autonomy in initiating, planning, conducting and reporting on issues of special significance and areas warranting extended audit reviews. The successful candidate will also contribute significantly to the development and implementation of corporate and annual plan strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting legislation
  • Highly developed leadership skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, in particular a record of communicating complex and/or sensitive concepts and issues effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships, in particular the ability to maintain a sound ongoing relationship whilst dealing with adversarial or conflict situations

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have highly developed leadership skills and demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts and issues effectively

You must have completed an appropriate Bachelor level degree in accounting or commerce (majoring in accounting), recognised in Australia under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

You must be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident at the time of applying
