Job Title: Conservation Horticulture Specialist

This role forms part of a dedicated team responsible for managing and maintaining the diverse plant collections within our Australian Botanic Gardens. Key responsibilities include assisting with horticultural maintenance, conservation and rehabilitation programs, and working collaboratively with Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff to achieve shared goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing and implementing sustainable practices for plant collection management, focusing on conservation and biodiversity.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve site operations, risk management, WHS, diversity programs, fire and emergency preparedness.
  • Provide guidance and direction to junior staff members as needed, ensuring seamless team performance.

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, along with effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in horticultural management, particularly relevant training, knowledge, and experience in landscape settings.
