About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to contribute to the teaching and learning efforts within the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program, with a focus on Indigenous Health.

The successful candidate will provide support and guidance for indigenous students enrolled in the MD, participating in educational activities relating to Indigenous Health in the MD curriculum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support for indigenous students across the 4 years of the program
  • Participating in peer support with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
  • Identifying and engaging key stakeholders in the community, including Aboriginal Medical Services and the Local Health District
  • Developing and growing relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Acting as a role model for indigenous students, offering mentoring and guidance throughout their medical education journey

Requirements:

  • IDentify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and have a passion for Aboriginal people, culture, health, history and change
  • Evidence of strong links and respect within the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Allied Health or medical background or experience in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations desirable
  • Experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings
