Emergency Management Director Role

The Emergency Management Director will be responsible for shaping the future of emergency services in South Australia.

The role involves working closely with senior leaders in the fire and emergency service organisations to develop and manage a risk-based Emergency Management Framework for the State within a national context.

This requires providing for the effective allocation of resources within the emergency services sector to ensure the provision of adequate frontline services to support and protect South Australia's community.

  • Developing and maintaining a strategic policy framework supported by risk management strategies and systems.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to initiate advancements and improvements in the sector.
  • Engaging with relevant volunteer associations and unions.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a senior leader in emergency services, with expertise in risk management and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Summary: To lead the development and implementation of a risk-based Emergency Management Framework for the State of South Australia.

Main Duties:

  • To work collaboratively with senior leaders in the fire and emergency service organisations to develop and implement the Emergency Management Framework.
  • To provide leadership and guidance on risk management and strategic planning to ensure the effective allocation of resources.
  • To engage with stakeholders, including volunteer associations and unions, to promote the importance of emergency management and seek their input and feedback.

Requirements:

  • A strong background in emergency services, with experience in risk management and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
