We are seeking a Poultry Production Assistant to join our team at McLean Farms.

This role involves assisting in managing the environment to provide optimal conditions for layer hens to achieve maximum production daily while upholding strict animal welfare protocols.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting feed, water and light checks, including general maintenance to equipment where necessary;
  • Conducting environmental checks to ensure birds are comfortable;
  • Conducting inspections on bird welfare, egg systems, and egg belts for ease of flow;
  • General cleaning and servicing of sheds and equipment as required;
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Live locally for call out purposes or prepared to relocate to the area would be highly regarded;
  • Willingness to strictly adhere to the required animal welfare guidelines and regulations;
  • Previous experience in the poultry industry is not essential, but would be highly regarded;
  • Current valid drivers' licence;
  • Strenuous physical activity may be involved, and therefore a robust physical nature is required to successfully fill this role;
  • Be prepared to work as part of a team, but be able to work autonomously when required;
  • Strong inter-personal skills, able to work co-operatively with internal and external contacts;
  • Willingness to adhere to all health and safety, bio-security and operational requirements;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must be reliable, punctual and motivated;
  • Good attention to detail;
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to carry out a range of different tasks.

Please note that you may be required to work reasonable overtime to meet operational demands. You must be able to work weekends and public holidays as per a rotating roster.
