We are a diversified family-owned agri-business based in Australia, specialising in livestock and food production. Our business is involved with a broad range of agricultural enterprises such as grain, compost, and feed mill operations.

We are currently seeking a Poultry Hand to join our team in a full-time capacity. This role is responsible for assisting in managing the environment to provide optimal conditions for layer hens to achieve maximum production daily while upholding strict animal welfare protocols.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-starter and be passionate about supporting a collaborative working environment, in line with our culture and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting feed, water, and light checks, including general maintenance to equipment where necessary;
  • Conducting environmental checks to ensure birds are comfortable;
  • Conducting inspections on bird welfare, egg systems, and egg belts for ease of flow;
  • General cleaning and servicing of sheds and equipment as required;
  • Other duties as required.

About You:

  • Live locally for call-out purposes or be prepared to relocate to the area;
  • Willingness to strictly adhere to the required animal welfare guidelines and regulations;
  • Previous experience in the poultry industry is not essential, but would be highly regarded;
  • Current valid driver's license;
  • Strenuous physical activity may be involved, and therefore a robust physical nature is required to successfully fill this role;
  • Be prepared to work as part of a team, but be able to work autonomously when required;
  • Strong inter-personal skills, able to work co-operatively with internal and external contacts;
  • Willingness to adhere to all health and safety, bio-security, and operational requirements;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and motivated;
  • Good attention to detail;
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to carry out a range of different tasks.

To proceed with employment, shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a Pre-employment functional assessment and Drug and Alcohol testing.

Mclean Farms conducts random drug and alcohol testing across its sites.
