Policy Officer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Policy Officer to join our team and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative policy solutions.

This role will involve:

  • Supporting the Unit Head and Manager Policy in a high-performing, collaborative team
  • Leading policy analysis, evaluation, and development with a focus on identifying and implementing effective solutions
  • Communicating complex concepts and engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing multiple competing priorities and contributing to a positive team culture

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in policy or economic analysis and development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and build strong working relationships across government agencies and with stakeholders
About Our Division

Our division leads on policy, economic, and regulatory development to ensure NSW has innovative, modern, resilient, and effective frameworks in place to protect the environment and human health.

This includes:

  • Regulating the causes and consequences of climate change
  • Removing problematic plastics from the environment
  • Driving a circular economy through waste infrastructure needs and better waste management
  • Addressing legacy and emerging contaminants, hazardous chemicals, and radiation
  • Sustainable land management and conservation
