Duty Manager Position

Seeking a dynamic and experienced hospitality professional to lead our management team at a brand-new hostel in Surfers Paradise. As the Duty Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations during shifts, managing the front desk, greeting guests, handling conflict resolution, overseeing handovers, and liaising with maintenance and housekeeping teams.

Main Responsibilities:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in hostel or hotel administration and leadership roles
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship building skills
  • General reception administrative duties
  • Organisational and team management ability
  • Reservation Management and understanding of OTA policies and procedures
  • Capability to provide guidance, support, and leadership to all employees
  • Confident training of new employees
  • Comfortable liaising with third-party contractors and suppliers
  • Understanding Occupational Health and Safety and previous experience with Fire Evacuation procedures

Requirements:

  • AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or at least 3 years of relevant experience

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the property in accordance with company policies
  • Recruit, train, and build an effective team
  • Manage daily banking, staff rosters, and payroll within budget guidelines
  • Maintain high standards of accommodation and facilities
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure guest satisfaction
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for both guests and employees
  • Reconcile and submit weekly invoices
  • Act as the point of contact for online travel agent account managers
  • Manage basic inventory and revenue, as well as group bookings
  • Participate in local marketing initiatives
  • Ensure KPIs are met, including occupancy and revenue targets
  • Oversee handovers to maintenance, housekeeping, and auditors, addressing issues promptly
  • Handle conflict resolution and address guest issues such as booking or building problems
  • Organize and execute activities and special events, keeping detailed records of tasks, expenses, challenges, successes, and areas for improvement to streamline future events
