Graduate Mechanical Designer

This role is designed for a recent graduate in mechanical engineering or related field seeking to kick-start their career with a reputable organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design drawings for steel fabrication projects and process plate profiling jobs according to the Production Manager's specifications.
  • Programme all allocated jobs ensuring cost-effective production and optimal use of resources, as well as accuracy of completion.
  • Communicate with supervisor, estimators and warehouse staff on issues affecting production as required.
  • Ensure correct and optimal use of off-cuts and schedule, draw, nest and develop parts as needed.
  • Understand and interpret customer requirements including drawings, written specs and resolving tooling problems when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Industry-related experience within similar position.
  • Strong work ethic and strong safety focus.
  • Knowledge of plate profiling industry/customers.
  • Programming ability of appropriate equipment/appropriate software knowledge including Sigmanest, Primecut, Autocad and Plate and Sheet.
  • Effective communication skills and a strong work ethic with emphasis on teamwork.
