Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team based in Newcastle.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs for large-scale renewable energy projects.

Your expertise in high-voltage primary system design and ability to work collaboratively with our project teams will be essential in achieving our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Perform concept and detailed primary design for large-scale HV infrastructure projects, including developing and reviewing single-line diagrams, substation arrangements, cable reticulation design, load flow and fault studies, insulation coordination, transient analysis, earthing and lightning protection design
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and support to the engineering and project teams, including engineering investigations, site inspections, solving problems and making recommendations

Requirements:

  • Education: Australian recognised Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent
  • Professional Certifications: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia (or be eligible to obtain on commencement)
  • Skills: Proven experience in 66kV-330kV substation design and/or utility grid connections, proficient in using software modelling tools (e.g. CYMCAP, PowerFactory, PSCAD, CDEGS, PowerCad), excellent written and verbal communication skills, good ability to collaborate and develop team capabilities
