Senior Advisor

About the Role

This role plays a critical part in coordinating responses and providing strategic advice to internal and external oversight bodies. Our goal is to foster partnerships across the oversight and advocacy sector to support transparent, accountable youth detention services.

This involves responding to formal requests, tracking recommendations, and supporting governance and reform initiatives. The Senior Advisor will contribute by coordinating oversight responses, supporting strategic projects, and developing governance frameworks and reporting tools. Key skills for success include strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic projects and initiatives related to youth detention reform and oversight.
  • Analyse operational issues, including oversight recommendations, and develop evidence-based solutions requiring a departmental response.
  • Prepare high-quality written materials, including reports, briefings, ministerial correspondence, and responses to oversight bodies.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure collaborative approaches to reform and effective communication of project objectives.
  • Support the development and implementation of governance tools, such as tracking systems for recommendations and reporting frameworks.
  • Provide advice on complex youth detention service delivery issues, including emerging trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
