Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Advocate

This is a key role in the delivery of crisis support services to individuals affected by domestic and family violence. You will be working within an integrated response framework, providing immediate support to women and others affected by domestic and family violence.

The role involves undertaking comprehensive intake and complex risk assessments, developing crisis safety plans, and making appropriate internal and external referrals for follow-up support. You will also provide information on legal options, housing assistance, and other identified services, delivering culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support.

The position requires extensive experience in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning. You will have in-depth knowledge of domestic and family violence theory, practice, and relevant legislation, as well as proven ability to work collaboratively with government and community services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide crisis response, risk assessments, safety planning, and intake for domestic and family violence referrals.
  2. Deliver culturally sensitive, trauma-informed support and advocacy.
  3. Facilitate referrals to legal, housing, health, and community services.
  4. Represent the service at court, providing information, safe space management, and advocacy.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning.
  • In-depth knowledge of domestic and family violence theory, practice, and relevant legislation.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with government and community services.
  • Culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach.
