Disability Inclusion Specialist Role OverviewThe Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program is seeking a highly skilled professional to serve as its Disability Inclusion Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the implementation of disability-inclusive activities and supporting broader GEDSI efforts within the program.This includes:
  • Leading and implementing the PLMSP GEDSI Strategy with a focus on disability inclusion, ensuring that all activities are culturally appropriate and support inclusive environments in the PALM scheme.
  • Monitoring and adapting the disability inclusion pathway based on evolving needs, providing technical support to in-country inclusion coordinators and staff.
  • Building partnerships with disability organisations in participating countries, developing tools and guidelines to support inclusion efforts.
  • Contributing to GEDSI mainstreaming across PLMSP, fostering innovation through AI, data, and technology in inclusion practices.

The Disability Inclusion Specialist will oversee the implementation of the PLMSP GEDSI Strategy, focusing on disability inclusion and delivering culturally appropriate activities that support inclusive environments in the PALM scheme.

This involves:

  1. Developing and implementing the disability inclusion strategy, working closely with in-country inclusion coordinators and staff.
  2. Providing technical assistance and capacity building to stakeholders, including disability organisations and government agencies.
  3. Collaborating with the PLMSP team to ensure that all activities align with the program's objectives and outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as disability studies, social work, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years' professional experience in program management, preferably in the field of disability inclusion.
  • Excellent knowledge of disability inclusion principles and practices, with a strong understanding of cultural differences and their impact on inclusion efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
