About this role

An opportunity exists for a Grade 2 Physiotherapist with an interest in gerontology to join the Physiotherapy team.

The successful candidate will have a leading role in ensuring excellence in client care and education of staff and students in the physiotherapy stream.

  • Lead in ensuring excellence in client care and education of staff and students in the physiotherapy stream.
  • Organise, implement, develop and supervise physiotherapy care and promote best practice.
  • Assess and treat patients on GEM wards; oversee a clinical caseload including neurological, musculoskeletal, and general physiotherapy.
  • Supervise junior staff and supervise physiotherapy students on placement.

This is a full time, permanent position at 80 hours per fortnight with a monthly accrued day off (ADO).

Key responsibilities
  1. Ensure excellent client care and educate staff and students in the physiotherapy stream.
  2. Organise and implement physiotherapy care and promote best practice.
  3. Treat patients on GEM wards and oversee a clinical caseload.
  4. Supervise junior staff and physiotherapy students on placement.
Requirements

A background with significant experience resulting in high level of clinical skills in Gerontology Physiotherapy.

Proven ability to manage complex older population patients in the subacute setting.

Experience and/or interest in the management and education of undergraduate physiotherapy students and junior staff.

Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and collaborate with other health professionals.

Demonstrated leadership skills and initiative in developing and promoting clinical care.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team.
