Senior Legal Counsel Position Available

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer.

As a key member of our legal and compliance team, you will provide expert advice on various issues, including consumer credit, financial regulation, and commercial matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level legal and compliance advice to all business units, ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement solutions for new products and features, working closely with the business to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, managing risk and ensuring effective outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage legal and regulatory risks across the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in PPSR issues, particularly in commercial asset finance transactions.
  • Support the Chief Legal Officer with project-based activities, ensuring successful delivery of business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of post-qualification experience, with a strong background in in-house legal roles and law firms.
  • Demonstrated expertise in consumer credit regulatory frameworks, commercial asset finance, and AML/CTF, Australian consumer credit, and privacy regimes.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills, including internal and external partners/vendors.
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities, with capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
