Lead In-House Counsel

A leading fintech organisation seeks an experienced Lead In-House Counsel to join its dynamic and innovative team.

As Lead In-House Counsel, you will report to the Chief Legal Officer and be responsible for advising on a range of legal and compliance issues, including consumer credit, financial regulation, privacy, and general commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal and compliance advice to all business units, including responding to ad-hoc requests, drafting policy documents, preparing responses to complaints, and reviewing marketing materials
  • Advising the business on regulatory requirements and providing pragmatic solutions for new products and features
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of commercial agreements
  • Managing legal and regulatory risks across all relevant internal business units, material activities, and projects
  • Advising on PPSR issues, particularly in commercial asset finance transactions
  • Supporting project-based and discrete activities in alignment with the organisation's strategic framework
  • Monitor and provide advice on changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards

Requirements:

  • 10+ years post qualification experience with in-house legal experience as well as a strong law firm background
  • Knowledge of consumer credit regulatory framework
  • Experience in Commercial Asset Finance
  • Knowledge of AML/CTF, Australian consumer credit and privacy regimes
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex commercial legal and regulatory problems, consult with relevant stakeholders, and propose practical solutions
  • Strong stakeholder management skills including internal as well as with external Vendors/ Partners
