Electrical Engineer Position

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the success of our organization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the reliability and performance of electrical equipment, reducing unplanned outages and maintenance costs. They will apply data analysis and digital tools to predict failures and plan interventions. Additionally, they will oversee electrical system design and installation to meet safety and compliance standards.

In this role, you will work closely with mechanical, process, and operations teams to integrate electrical components seamlessly into plant infrastructure. You will conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify and resolve electrical issues promptly, providing technical support to site electricians. Staying on top of emerging technologies and industry trends, you will recommend and implement enhancements to operational efficiency.

To succeed in this position, you should have a tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering and experience in electrical reliability engineering within a mining or heavy industrial processing environment. You should also possess a Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas or Classification Competency provided by a Registered Training Organisation. Experience with VSDs, protection relays, power system analysis, HV/LV assets, and proficiency in root cause analysis and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) are highly desirable.

A strong understanding of SAP and knowledge of using databases in SQL or Snowflake are advantageous. You should also have demonstrated competency in managing electrical equipment hazardous areas and instrumentation equipment hazardous areas. Working within a processing operation and/or refinery with gas infrastructure and high voltage and low voltage electrical assets (including motors, VSDs, transformers, switchgear) are essential skills for this role.
