About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Digital Content Creator to lead our social media strategy and create engaging content for ABC News' digital platforms.

Job Description:

This is an ongoing, full-time position based in Melbourne's Southbank.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit, produce, and publish accurate and timely content for ABC News' social platforms.
  • Create engaging content to enhance audience understanding and deepen engagement on social platforms.
  • Collaborate with newsroom colleagues to respond to breaking news and source user-generated content.
  • Contribute ideas for improving ABC's News presentation in social spaces, including new content formats.
  • Drive the social media strategy for ABC News (VIC) in collaboration with teams like Radio Melbourne.
  • Use creative approaches to reach new audiences and improve engagement on social platforms.

Salary and Benefits:

Base salary circa $81,000 - $99,000, plus 15.4% superannuation, paid parental leave, salary packaging, and access to employee benefits.

Requirements:

  • Strong editorial skills with ability to produce accurate, concise content as part of a team.
  • Tertiary journalism qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expertise in using social media to identify and distribute compelling digital stories creatively.
  • Deep understanding of user behaviors and social media platform dynamics.
  • Awareness of emerging media technologies and social media trends.
  • Possession of a passion for creating authentic content representing Australia's diverse communities.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain contacts across the Australian community.

About You:

You'll be an experienced journalist or content creator with a strong track record of producing high-quality content for digital platforms.

You'll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
