The Incident Management Capability Development role focuses on ensuring the organization's operational readiness to fulfill its emergency management responsibilities.

This involves statewide monitoring and reporting on disaster and emergency related issues impacting or potentially impacting Queensland. The team contributes to reviewing the Incident Management Training Framework, delivering a defined, understood, consistent framework based on Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System principles.

Key Requirements:

  • Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team with RFS operational experience and a high-level understanding of AIIMS doctrine and incident management functional roles/responsibilities.
  • You will contribute to the review, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, systems, and communications to meet business objectives.
  • You will support administrative functions and work with internal and external stakeholders to review, design, and develop flexible learning materials and resources for incident management training delivery and development.

Special Requirements:

  • In order to be appointed within the RFS stream, applicants must meet all provisions as set out in the relevant generic operational role description.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and provide good organisational, planning, and interpersonal skills.

Primary Duties:

  • Preparing internal communications and providing written project status updates and reports on outcomes in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Maintaining document management systems, filing, and financial administration to ensure business objectives are achieved.
  • Contributing to the design, development, evaluation, and review of training curriculum, content, and materials to ensure currency and alignment with incident management training and national competency frameworks.
  • Delivering training and instructing, mentoring, and/or assessing personnel undertaking incident management development programs/courses.
  • Assisting in the research and evaluation of operational activities, including post-incident analysis relating to the provision of disaster and incident management systems, processes, and products.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practice strategies to enhance service delivery and operational capability, and monitor outcomes against performance during training, exercising, and operational activation.
  • Ensuring incident management capability development information is shared between regions, other emergency services, and agencies through timely communication and liaison.
  • Researching, analysing, and observing trends and issues contributing to the assessment of incident management capability development products, and providing recommendations to ensure quality decision making.
