Key Academic Position

This is a senior academic role at the Canberra School of Professional Studies.

The successful candidate will contribute to the school's teaching, research and administration through course development and delivery, research outputs and higher degree supervision, quality assurance, industry engagement, student support and other administrative duties aligned with school and faculty objectives.

We welcome applicants with strong technical expertise in cyber security and computer science, including areas such as cryptography, secure systems, cloud computing, threat detection, digital forensics, ethical hacking and data science.

The role reports to the Head of School and we value adaptability, collaboration and willingness to challenge systems and learn from mistakes while working as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to teaching, research and administration through course development and delivery, research outputs and higher degree supervision, quality assurance, industry engagement, student support and other administrative duties aligned with school and faculty objectives.
  • Develop and teach courses in cyber security and computer science, including areas such as cryptography, secure systems, cloud computing, threat detection, digital forensics, ethical hacking and data science.
  • Supervise postgraduate students and conduct research in cyber security and computer science.
  • Engage with industry partners and professional bodies to develop and apply work-integrated learning.
Requirements
  • A PhD in a related discipline, plus relevant work experience.
  • A good track record of research and publication and/or competitive research income in a chosen field.
  • Demonstrated expertise and currency in some of the above-listed technical aspects of cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching and learning design, development, delivery and pastoral care of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with positive evaluation.
  • Experience using and designing with educational technologies and flexible delivery platforms.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organisational communication skills, and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work with and support students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
