Electrical Design Engineer Role

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to our engineering team in Newcastle. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering quality, safe, and commercially effective electrical designs for large-scale Wind Farms and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review primary design concepts for large-scale HV infrastructure projects, including single-line diagrams, substation arrangements, cable reticulation design, load flow and fault studies, insulation coordination, transient analysis, earthing and lightning protection design.
  • Prepare and evaluate technical specifications for electrical equipment, ensuring designs and documentation meet relevant industry standards AS/IEC.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to the engineering and project teams, including problem-solving and making recommendations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in 66kV-330kV substation design with strong knowledge of Australian Standards (AS 2067, AS/NZS 3000, AS 1768, ENA Guidelines).
  • Proficiency in software modeling tools (CYMCAP, PowerFactory, PSCAD, CDEGS, PowerCad).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to collaborate and develop team capabilities.
  • Australian recognized Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer status with Engineers Australia or eligibility to obtain on commencement.
  • Proof of right to work in Australia.
