About the Role

The RMIT University Library is seeking a highly skilled User Experience Designer to join their Digital Learning Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing digital learning resources that support the University's academic programs and student experience.

The successful candidate will work closely with the team to develop and manage extensible, open, cross-curricular digital resources that suit multiple contexts and audiences. You will be responsible for creating pedagogically sound digital resources that support teaching and learning, and future-proof digital learning resources and environments to minimize technical debt.

The team's goal is to improve accessibility to digital learning resources, creating more equitable learning environments and providing learning opportunities for professional staff and educators to improve their digital skills and promote student success.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing digital learning resources that meet current requirements for blended learning and accessibility
  • Developing user experiences for different user types and interoperability with other learning platforms
  • Providing direction for modifications to service design for digital resources managed by the Library

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team while balancing workflows and priorities in a dynamic environment
  • High-level interpersonal and professional communication skills to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams with different levels of technical knowledge
  • Web content experience, particularly in the use of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and their role in content management systems
  • A professional background in secondary or tertiary education, or a related field
  • Demonstrable experience in leading digital design informed by analytics, prototyping, user stories, and research to drive engagement outcomes and improvements to the overall customer journey
