The position of Outdoor Education Trainer has become available at our esteemed institution. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the growth and development of our staff through experiential learning.
As an Outdoor Education Trainer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing training plans for current and new staff members. You will also manage the training outcomes of outdoor adventure activities, including hiking, high adventure activities, bush craft, survival, and camping.
This is a chance to work in a team-centered approach, promoting positive relationships with the community and supporting a culture of meaningful work, appreciation of land, and celebration of personal and communal growth.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, periodically review, and implement training plans, activity Standard Operating Procedures, and Risk Assessments.
- Be proactive in fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and development.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A Cert IV, Diploma, or Undergraduate Degree in Outdoor Leadership/Outdoor Education.
- A Cert IV in Training & Assessing.
- A Current Manual Driver's License.
- A Current Senior First Aid certificate (with current CPR).
- A Blue Card.
- Ability to perform physically and mentally challenging tasks.
- Willingness to be guided in work practice.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative in completing tasks within a team-centered approach.
- Interest and passion in working with adolescents.
- Willingness to live and work in a small Christian community.
- Preparedness to work irregular hours, weekends, public holidays, and school holidays.
The following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Current Wilderness or Remote First Aid certificate.
- Bush Camping experience.
- A passion for environmental education and sustainability.
- Active membership in a Christian denomination.
- SC1 - A keen interest in experiential learning.
- SC2 - Demonstrated knowledge or experience in bush camping and hiking to achieve outcomes.
- SC3 - Experience working with teenagers and willingness to learn and develop an understanding of adolescent development.
- SC4 - Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with staff in a residential team environment.
- SC5 - Understanding and desire to contribute to spiritual and personal development aspects of the program.
- SC6 - Interest in incorporating environmental and place-based education into the programs.
