Job Overview

The Senior Financial Accountant is a critical role within the organization, responsible for managing the delivery of all statutory and financial audit compliance services. This includes internal and external financial reporting, annual reports, accounting, taxation, development of financial policies and procedures, process and systems improvement, and provision of high-level financial advice.

This role requires strong leadership skills to manage multiple stakeholders, complex financial issues, and heavy workloads. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures, ensure timely and accurate financial information, and provide expert advice on specialist areas of financial management, accounting, and taxation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to guide the Accounting team's work.
  • Manage all taxation returns, including FBT, Payroll Tax, and GST, perform general ledger maintenance, and create new account codes and cost centres.
  • Oversee bank account administration and authorize payment runs.
  • Provide expert guidance on financial management, accounting, and taxation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare statutory financial reports and ensure they comply with Treasury and Accounting Standards.
  • Lead primary contact with external auditors for annual financial statements audit.
  • Apply Accounting Standards, Treasury Circulars, and other accounting policy requirements to work performed.
  • Contribute to the Financial Accounting Team in developing and maintaining professional working relationships with the business to achieve best practice KPIs of financial reporting.
Requirements
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Finance or relevant discipline, with CA/CPA qualification.
  • Experience in implementing change management initiatives with NSW Government.
  • Knowledge and understanding of government and public administration legislative processes, protocols, and reporting requirements.
Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
