The Opportunity

We seek an enthusiastic lawyer looking for an alternative legal career path to join our Sydney office as a Conflicts Solicitor on a fixed-term contract. This role will allow you to apply your legal skills in a strategic and commercial setting, providing a unique insight into our global clients and sectors.

Job Description

This position falls under the New Business and Enterprise Risk Department and is responsible for managing conflicts of interest and information barriers globally. You will play a key role in shaping firm strategy by liaising with Sector Lead Partners, Regional/Global Heads of Practice, and Business Development teams to ensure compliance with professional obligations and commercial fit for the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advising on the resolution of complex legal and commercial conflicts problems;
  • Ensuring compliance with global sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering obligations;
  • Reviewing, drafting, and advising on conflict provisions in engagement letters, firm policies, and client agreements.
Requirements:
  • Admitted to practice as a Solicitor (in any area of law) in Australia or another jurisdiction where HSF operates;
  • 2-4 years' post-admission experience with excellent research, technical, and analytical skills;
  • A proactive approach with the ability to adapt to competing demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • A desire to work outside traditional private practice in an alternative legal career.
