We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Research Scientist to lead our X-ray Facility as Director. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the development of new X-ray analytical techniques and instruments, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of research scientists, technical and professional staff to deliver operational excellence and innovation in the X-ray Facility.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the capabilities of the X-ray Facility, aligning with the University's research goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre, to align X-ray science strategies with the University's research priorities.
- Manage the X-ray Facility's operations, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Oversee the development and implementation of new X-ray techniques and instruments, ensuring they meet the needs of our research community.
- Engage in both independent and collaborative research on X-ray methods, publishing research findings in top-tier journals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies, industry partners, and other stakeholders to promote the X-ray Facility's capabilities and secure funding opportunities.
- Supervise student projects, lead publications, and contribute to the University's leadership in X-ray research.
- PhD in a relevant field (Material/Chemical/Physical Sciences) with a strong research track record in X-ray techniques.
- Proven leadership experience in collaborative research, with a history of securing external funding and knowledge of research ethics and compliance.
- Experience in managing commercial services, including knowledge of commercial X-ray applications and budget management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead a team of research scientists, technical and professional staff.
- Ability to manage resources and research infrastructure, including major equipment procurement and budget management.
