About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Human Resource Advisor to join our team at Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. As a key member of our Human Resource Services team, you will play a critical role in providing strategic HR advice and support to our regional and state office managers and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert HR advice and guidance on employee entitlements, HR systems, establishment management, and local recruitment and selection.
  • Design, develop, and deliver HR initiatives, policies, and resources to ensure compliance and best practice in alignment with whole-of-government, departmental, and business unit needs.
  • Collaborate with staff, managers, and decision-makers to progress day-to-day human resource entitlements and activities.
  • Liaise with Queensland Shared Services and QFD subject matter experts to ensure quality people management practices across specialist fields.
  • Contribute to HR capability across the workforce through the design, development, and delivery of procedures, guidelines, and resources.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Research, review, and prepare reports, briefs, submissions, and other correspondence in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Represent QFES and participate in HR projects and working groups to ensure outcomes are delivered within agreed timeframes and meet business and client needs.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and/or experience or qualifications in contemporary HR management and best practice.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze payroll and other employee data to address individual and broader workforce issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes and contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.
