About the Role

Atlas Iron, a pioneering Australian iron ore company, is seeking an exceptional Compliance and Approvals Specialist to join their team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic professional to make a lasting impact on the company's growth and sustainability.

The primary objective of this position is to provide expert support in regulatory environmental approvals and compliance across all Atlas operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Specialist Approvals and Compliance team to ensure that all activities align with regulatory requirements.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and maintaining primary and secondary environmental approvals, ensuring seamless integration with business processes.
  • Providing technical expertise and advice to support approvals, driving efficient decision-making.
  • Supporting the development of fit-for-purpose approvals and compliance capabilities, promoting excellence in environmental management.
  • Maintaining project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely completion within allocated resources and reporting progress effectively.
  • Collaborating with the Environment team to ensure compliance with all environmental legal obligations and commitments, including regulatory reporting and monitoring.
  • Assisting with coordinating environmental contractors across various Atlas sites, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Promoting environmental awareness, assessment, and management processes across the broader business, driving cultural change.
  • Offering technical expertise and staying up-to-date with industry best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements, contributing valuable insights for effective environmental management.
  • Reviewing and maintaining environmental management and compliance documentation, including environmental management plans, monitoring plans, and risk registers.
About You

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • A degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in approvals and compliance within the resources sector, preferably in a similar capacity.
  • Solid understanding of environmental approval processes, particularly Commonwealth and State Environmental Approvals.
  • Proven ability to apply environmental legislation relevant to mining practices, ensuring compliance and minimizing risks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including stakeholder liaison and report writing.
  • A collaborative approach, with a focus on delivering business outcomes and driving continuous improvement.

Estimated salary: AU$95,000 - AU$115,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
