Job Summary

The Wellbeing Support Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality support services to students, teachers, and parents in maintaining positive mental health and wellbeing.

This role involves working closely with the school community to develop and implement strategies for promoting student wellbeing, fostering a safe and supportive environment that enables individuals to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with SSSO professionals to oversee the Student Online Case System (SOCS) referrals;
  • Conduct need assessments and provide appropriate responses for students engaging with wellbeing services;
  • Coordinate and consult regarding referrals to external agencies including Headspace, CMYHS, DHHS etc.;
  • Refer students displaying serious mental health issues to the Mental Health Practitioner;
  • Organise and participate in school events promoting positive mental health such as RUOK day;
  • Work with school staff to engage parents and carers;
  • Provide information to the school community regarding programs, services, and financial assistance available within the community.

  • Demonstrate initiative and complex problem-solving skills;
  • Capacity to work effectively as a member or leader of a team and with external providers;
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills;
  • A strong understanding of the challenging problems young people face with experience in working with students and their families to address mental health issues.
