About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior/Principal Engineer to join our Sydney Fire Protection team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a variety of projects, including commercial, health, defence, education, data centres, retail, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, local authorities, builders, and end users to achieve efficient and cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare drawings and calculations in support of design concepts.
- Prepare fire protection services documentation for development application, tendering, and construction purposes.
- Mentor junior staff members and provide guidance and support to ensure their success.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
- Provide input throughout the construction phase by attending meetings and conducting site inspections.
- Adhere to Stantec's professional standards, ethics, and quality procedures.
- Contribute to the overall strategy and development of the Fire Protection team and to our company culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience and qualifications.
- Experience working with an engineering consultancy.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Building Codes and standards related to fire protection systems.
- Experience in all forms of wet and dry fire protection systems.
- FPAS accreditation is highly desirable.
- Understanding of the BCA/NCC.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven commercial acumen and the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Attention to detail.
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
- The ability to use initiative and think outside the box.
