Job Title

This position plays a pivotal role in safeguarding company assets from theft. The Loss Prevention Clerk is responsible for observing and reporting potential safety and security hazards. This includes investigating, detaining suspects, completing reports, cooperating with law enforcement, and testifying in court when necessary. The successful candidate will report directly to the Warehouse Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will be required to walk the warehouse and perimeter to monitor safety and security concerns.
  • The Loss Prevention Clerk will maintain knowledge of relevant procedures and applicable laws related to loss prevention duties.
  • The role requires attending meetings and seminars regarding loss prevention strategies.
  • The Loss Prevention Clerk will observe, detect, and investigate internal and external theft threats.
  • Potential internal theft situations will be reported to the Warehouse Manager.
  • The Loss Prevention Clerk participates in the Shrink Committee.
  • Detain and interview shoplifters when warranted.
  • Prepare reports for internal use and for potential prosecution.
  • Maintain evidence and reports files collected from investigations.
  • Testify in court concerning theft investigations.
  • Communicate with other area Costco Loss Prevention Clerks and Security personnel of area businesses to exchange information about current and local theft threats.
  • Follow proper Member Service and general safety and security procedures and standards.
  • When in office, answer phones and assist callers.
  • Assist in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to members, employees, and vendors.
  • Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery.
Requirements

Skills and Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess excellent observational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently. They must also be able to follow procedures and maintain confidentiality.
