Job Description:

  We are seeking a Strategic Engineering Director to lead our engineering team in delivering a safe and reliable rail network and passenger fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of rail engineering, including strategy, design, construction, and maintenance.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide resources and expertise to support the implementation of best practice management of assets.
  • Lead, manage, and deliver commercial contracts and supply chain services, focusing on supply chain performance and planning, contract management, and commercial management.
  • Provide design, engineering, and technical assurance services to ensure safety and integrity.
  • Lead and deliver safe, reliable, and commercially competitive fleet maintenance services, including cleanliness and operational readiness.
  • Deliver large-scale maintenance, renewal, and enhancements on railway assets, including track, signals, control systems, electrical, and operational technology.

  Requirements:

  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership in a senior leadership role, preferably with a rail or engineering background. They will bring experience confidently leading engineers and technical experts, ability to challenge when necessary, and strong experience building relationships and dealing with stakeholders of all levels.
